Optima Philosophy

At Optima, we are dedicated to partnering with clients to streamline and create human capital management strategies to enhance organizational and individual effectiveness.  We believe the human capital management strategy should be your competitive advantage to advancing your career or to retain and motivate top talent, not just attract it.  Our process is simple, we listen to our clients to fully understand their needs, and agree on the problem before a solution is presented.

Yvette is a seasoned professional with a combined 30IMG_7383+ years of global human resources and academic experience, having worked for the transportation, aviation, pharmaceutical, hospitality, County government and consumer goods industry.  During her time in academia, primarily teaching math in inner-city schools, she was also an Assistant Athletic Director and Athletic Coach of volleyball, basketball and track where she honed her skills as a motivator and mentor, even founding a mentor group. One of her greatest passions is mentoring professionals and women to become poised and confident leaders on/off the athletic fields, corporate boards and in business settings.

 

Throughout her corporate tenure, Yvette was responsible for domestic/international relocation, executive incentive administration, and developing and managing company-wide global pay practices and procedures. She also has experience in matrixed, fast-paced, union and non-union environments and a demonstrated record of achievement influencing decision-making with senior management. She possesses solid skills in corporate governance, global team leadership. consulting, strategic planning, compensation administration, health/welfare program administration basics, measurement, assessment and data analysis, transformational change management; global mobility; policy, program and staff development/recognition; workforce recruitment and retention strategies; contract negotiations, employee relations problem resolution and providing excellent customer service.

 

Deeply engaged in the community, Yvette has served on her church and local HR boards. She was a Girl Scouts co-leader for several years and is a Life member and charter member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Psi Theta Omega Chapter. She spends countless hours volunteering with local and civic organizations in her community, most notably now in healthcare advocacy having a new perspective on life as a two-time Breast Cancer survivor.

 

Dr. Best received her BA in Spanish from the University of Michigan, MBA from Rutgers Business School and a Doctorate in Organizational Leadership/Human Resource Development from Nova Southeastern University. She is currently enrolled in Howard University’s Master in Health Administration program.  Born and raised in Princeton, NJ, Dr. Best relocated to Central Florida following the blizzard of 1996, vowing to never shovel snow again! In her leisure time she enjoys the beach and international travel.
